Maintenance and Care of FRPP Water Traps

Maintenance and upkeep
Preventing clogs:
Since the trap is part of the drainage system, it is prone to clogs from hair, fibers, debris, etc. To prevent clogs, a filter device such as a mesh screen can be installed at the outlet of the drainage fixture. For example, installing a stainless steel mesh screen at the sink's drain can intercept most hair and larger debris, reducing the likelihood of them entering the trap.
Regular cleaning:
Regularly cleaning the trap is key to maintaining its normal function. If drainage is slow, it is likely that debris is clogging the trap. When cleaning, specialized plumbing tools such as a hand-cranked drain cleaner can be used. Insert the wire head of the cleaner into the trap, rotate the handle to agitate the wire inside the trap, and remove the clog.
Check the water seal:
It is important to regularly check the water seal height of the trap. If the water seal height is insufficient, it may be due to evaporation from prolonged disuse or a leak. You can restore the water seal height by adding water to the trap, while also checking for leaks at the connections of the trap, and repairing any leaks promptly.
